Can Chiropractic Help Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is associated with a history of widespread, deep aching, radiating or burning pain of at least three months duration, both above & below the waist and including both sides of the body.  Ninety percent of fibromyalgia patients are also afflicted with chronic fatigue, which brings additional symptoms of dizziness, numbness & tingling, nausea, a swollen feeling in tissues as well as stiffness.

While the exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, recent research indicates traumatic neck injury (whiplash, concussion, etc.) as a risk factor for both fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue.  This suggests that upper cervical chiropractic care may be effective treatment.  The goal would be to reverse the trauma-induced neck injury thereby reducing irritation to the nerves that can trigger pain, neuromuscular dysfunction, and fatigue.
